John Williams é de longe o compositor de cinema mais barroco desde sempre, seus scores são cheios de cordas majestosas, harmonias ornamentadas, melodias empolgantes, e é por essas razões que ele, ao longo de sua carreira, foi procurado para musicar filmes de grande orçamento. Ademais, seu trabalho exige alguma imaginação e requer uma espécie de argumento grandioso, do contrário poderíamos ter um filme de suspense sobre os demônios de um assassino em série acompanhado por uma trilha sonora à la Star Wars.

Sem surpresa, caso o Sr. Williams tivesse nascido em uma época onde monarcas, imperadores e rainhas escolhessem músicos para a sua diversão, seu estilo exuberante certamente o levaria a coordenar aqueles grandes bailes ou a reger música para a monarquia em grandes teatros, o que nos leva a esta coleção “definitiva”: ela enaltece seus temas celestiais, como os de Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith e “Olympic Fanfare and Theme”.

“Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade End Credits” por exemplo, é uma faixa enriquecida pelo motivo de reis e rainhas, que traz o calor da grandeza e da importância destacado pela modulação. Estranhamente, a melhor composição do álbum é “Double Trouble” de Harry Potter e O Prisioneiro de Azkaban, que junta um magnetismo magnífico a uma ligeira apreensão infantil.

A maioria das faixas deste extenso (seis discos) tributo ao 80º aniversário de Williams é interpretada pela The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, que dá aos temas eternos uma atmosfera ainda mais dramática, se de algum modo isso é possível. O estilo de John Williams é definitiva e instantaneamente o mais reconhecível dentre todos os compositores do cinema, mas talvez seus temas sejam tão superiores que possam falhar em ir diretamente ao núcleo intrínseco, como por exemplo o trabalho de David Julyan em Amnésia. É por tal razão que John Williams trabalha quase que tão somente em grandes produções – porque seus motivos combinam melhor com a gigantesca imensidão do Cinema como um conceito.
